Kink List
Phaedra is a living sword who possesses human form. It originated as a blade forged for a charismatic conqueror long ago. Over time, it gained consciousness and started to become self aware. As the sword of an emperor, it understood its purpose was to kill, and it was content to be used. However, once that king began to age and stop frequenting battlefields, it started to be used less for bloody warfare and more for ceremonial execution. It remained in its scabbard on a peaceful emperor's hip, stood guard as he entered a political marriage, governed, and had a new child of his own. It rejoiced each time it was necessary to be put to use and despaired each time it was returned to its scabbard.
One day, an ambitious sorceress sensed its plight. Through dark magic and a sacrifice, she gave Phaedra a human form. With a body, the sword was able to act on its own without commands, and so it was able to betray its master. Very different from the peaceful emperor, the sorceress turned out to be a bloody tyrant whose actions wrought chaos. In the end, this was far better for the sword, as it was given far more purpose than it ever had in peace. It didn't care how it was used, only that it wasn't abandoned. Phaedra followed the sorceress loyally until the day her misdeeds caught up with her. Once those who'd killed her had been handed vengeance, the sword was once again left without purpose, and so it wandered the land, looking for a new one.
Phaedra has had many masters and many physical forms, and so can freely shift between them. Each time its chitinous metal was melted down or splintered apart for new material, it remembered what form it was molded into. It's existed as a sword, a knife, a necklace, a mirror, a breastplate, and many more. It's able to bear the face of anyone whose blood it's tasted, from the lowly knight who was sacrificed to it to the sorceress who commanded it. It can materialize as multiple forms by splitting itself in two, but this ability is limited by the four red eyes that can sprout anywhere on its body. One eye is always open, and any extra forms require an additional eye to be used as the new form's core. These eyes are its weak point, so it prefers to keep them closed and attached to its main body whenever possible.
Usually, Phaedra takes on the form of either the youthful knight who first gave it a body or the slender sorceress who rescued it from abandonment. Both forms have black hair, as well as one black eye and one red, their red eye being their own natural one. Sometimes it will hold itself as a sword, requiring one of its eyes to be separated from its main body. The eye on the sword itself can be mistaken at a distance for an eerie red jewel on its hilt. Often, it will manifest a mask over its eyes to hide its vulnerabilities. The eye forming the core of the mask is on the inside of the chitinous piece, allowing both eyes to be protected from immediate attack.
Phaedra is a highly unstable individual whose sole driving force is to find purpose. It wishes to be used and to be praised above all else. While its loyalty varies from master to master, so long as it feels fulfilled, it won't waver from their side.
